Plastic is Fantastic work sample

Description

EDIT: Finally renamed the placeholder Leticia character (Main character of the story).  Her name is Vanessa and she's with her best friend Fiona.  Behind the bar is Ruby, of course. (Plastic is Fantastic will be a separate story than my doll stuff, but the universe and some of it's places and lore characters may cross over a bit, like a cameo or something)

Heya!  Here is just a quick sample since I found a font I kinda liked for the comic book look... and worked up a style for the speech bubbles that I'm satisfied with for a first comic.  I wanted them slightly transparent so they wouldn't completely cover the background and yet be very easy to read and I think I managed to fit an okay amount of dialogue to get the point of this single panel across without covering too much of it (works in this case since there's a lot of unused filler in this picture... but I think that'll be the challenge.  To compose a picture that shows what I want and is framed beforehand for text that will be put in later, meaning I gotta work out the dialogue of a panel before making the render.)

But whatever, that's just me musing and reflecting on my methodology and the lessons learned while working to make my workflow faster and less trial-and-error-ish.

I can give you a lot of names to touch base with for fonts and such. As for text, just keep in mind that for a comic, the art is what tells the story first. Dialog flows left to right in comics and if a speaker talks multiple times, the second balloon usual falls below the first (for readers sake). You'll find that it's a balancing act depending on personal tastes. I work well with most artists I collab with though there have been a few who were, ummm, unhappy with my scripts and dialogues.

You'll probably look back at your early works at some point and shake your head at how far you've come. It's all about patience.
